Lisbon is the world's 6th most popular destination for international congresses, according to ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association). In 2007 alone it hosted 90 international events, more than other major European cities such as London, Madrid, or Brussels. The major attractions are the excellent facilities, the ideal geographical location (as the closest European capital to the United States, with a large number of daily connections to South America, and just a couple of hours from the rest of Europe), the mild climate, and the competitive prices.

Lisbon's riverfront Congress Center is halfway between downtown and the historic Belem district, making it a convenient venue for those wishing to also do some sightseeing.
Other options include the Atlantic Pavilion (the site for the city's mega international events such as the World Indoor Athletics Championship and the MTV Music Awards), and FIL (the Lisbon International Fair), a large and modern exhibition center in the Parque das Nações district.

Fontana Park Hotel is a design hotel with 9 multi-purpose rooms with a capacity for up to 400 people. The soundproofed rooms feature audiovisual material, as well as translation services.

Olissipo Oriente offers smaller rooms holding up to 50 people, as well as larger ones with a capacity for 350.

Tryp Oriente has six rooms available with a capacity for 350 people, all including multimedia equipment.

VIP Arts offers 8 meeting rooms that can be adapted for any event, all fully equipped with audiovisual materials.

VIP Grand Lisboa & Spa has 8 rooms with different features that may be set up in different ways to meet the events' needs.

Hotel Villa Rica located in the city's business center, also offers a meeting room for seminars and congresses.

Hotel Vila Galé Opera overlooking 25 de Abril Bridge offers special meeting or banquet rooms with internet access and multimedia equipment.
