A cool, fashionable designer restaurant opened in the 1980s in a renovated centuries-old warehouse, with a warm and intimate décor made up of red velvet, soft lighting, and steel pillars.

Often frequented by local stars and executives, you too will be treated as a celebrity from the time you are greeted at the door.

You then are presented with an inventive Portuguese and International cuisine with plenty of delicious options, but be warned that this quality of service and food is not exactly cheap.

Set amongst abandoned factories in a squalid area of the capital, a derelict printing plant had been transformed into a cosmopolitan and sophisticated restaurant, serving nouvelle cuisine, almost unheard of in the country back then.

Seventeen years have passed since the initial shock and Alcântara Café has become a national landmark. Italian GQ even places it second in its list of the 100 top restaurants of the world.

Opening hours: 8pm to 1am, every day

I loved this place. I was brought here by an acquiantance for a very sumptous dinner. Iwas tempted to try the Steak Tartare but I was not ready for it yet. Most probably when I come back for the second time. The ambiance of this place is out of this world. I loved to come back to this place.

This has got to be my most favorite retaurant ever..........The surroundings are fabulous although based in a very suspect part of Lisbon! From the moment you are met at the door by the man in a tux and bow tie, you are in for a real treat. Not only are the fittings extremely diverse and interesting, but the service and food are also excellent. I hope to go many more times over the next few years.
