I read some of the comments, and I'm
disapppointed. I been eating there since the 50's and always ate well.
The last time we ate there was Sept.
2009 , first time for lunch in many
years, I usually eat dinner. I think
the problem is the waitors taking
advantage of the tourists, as a person
born in this town I had no problems.
Recommendation try the house plate for two.(all seafood) expensive !

I went to Solmar about a week ago and there I had what is probably my worst
experience in restaurants ever. Apart from the fact that the food was poor
(which, let's face it, is not so uncommon in the touristic center of any
European city) they simply swindled us. Without ordering it and with no
explanation whatsoever, the waiter placed a small plate of seafood on my
table. In a brief conversation that I had had with the maitre some minutes
before we started dinner, I had mentioned that I also had a restaurant, and
he told our waiter to "treat us well" so I understood that it was an
invitation. At the end, they charged me 38.38 euros for that little plate
that, I insist, nobody ordered. We actually ate it because we did not want
to look unpolite because it was really mediocre.
We tried to explain but they simply did not want to know anything, so we
filed a complaint.
That place is a trap.
