Note: The Fado show is only available on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. All other days there is restaurant service only.

Sr. Fado is a family restaurant located in Alfama, the traditional and historic Old Town district of Lisbon.

Here you can sample good Portuguese food while you listen to traditional Fado music in a pleasant and friendly ambiance. Going to Sr. Fado is like going to a friend's house: here, our friends are Ana Marina and Duarte, a couple of musicians who decided to use Fado and homemade Portuguese cuisine as a way to preserve traditional customs, always with the hospitality and warmth that characterizes the Portuguese people.

The friendly Duarte welcomes you and immediately shows you to your table, as well as serving the tasty dishes which are prepared by Ana Marina in a simple, rustic and truly delicious way - the wonderful taste of home cooking often using quality homegrown products.

After your meal, the lights are dimmed, the candles lit, and the mournful tones of Fado commence.

We're about to visit Lisbon in February and these reviews made me to reserve two seats in Sr Fado for an evening !

Responding to Ms. / Mr. yfungy, that nothing more was charged, the two drinks referred to in the invoice were tapas and cheese (Serra cheese and cheese of �vora) that she thought were included in the "couverts" (bread, butter and olives). Cheese, at that time was billed as tapas (already corrected it in the machine-register and appears today as cheese)

We had a wonderful evening 28/9/2011 at Sr. Fado. We ate the seafood rice, which was excellent. The fado music was good.
*Only we had charged 2 drinks we did not order.*

We were glad we had booked for Wednesday 31st August 2011 as it would have been a disappointed to have missed it. We had a superb seafood meal, really enjoyed the Fado music and singing. The hospitality of Duarte and Maria made the evening extremely enjoyable. Many thanks from "the Australians"

What a special place! We do not speak the language, but what passion! Can't speak Spanish either, but love Carlos' Santana's music. This is a must do stop in Lisbon. Great hospitality and wonderful food. What a small world, Duarte has been in San Jose and visited with us on a personal level!

Truly Sr. Fado is the heart and soul of Lisbon and of the Fado tradition. Duarte and Marina welcomed us into a truly special place for a wonderful meal and the most authentic Fado experience. We went on a Wendesday with no reservation and luckily a table was available. After dinner the music began. Duarte played classical guitar along with 3 two others and two musicians on the Portugese guitar. What a beautiful instrument! In total 5 people sang for two sets. Marina sang of course -- what a talent -- she can cook up a storm and can sing so beautifully. It was a perfect evening the ended with hugs and kisses. It was memorable and now I feel like I have a family in Lisbon to visit again!

A friend of mine and I went there a week ago. The food was excelent, prices are very reasonable, and the music was just amazing. Three guitars, five singers (with great Marina). Unfortunately we had to leave earlier (around 1AM) for our plane, but I really hope to return there again, and listen to fado for a whole night...

Wir haben bei SR FADO einen wunderbaren Abend erlebt.
Das Essen war ausgezeichnet (Cataplana), die Stimmung
super. Der Wirt spielte sp�ter hervorragend Gitarre und seine
bildh�bsche Frau,die vorher das k�stliche Essen zubereitet
hatte,sang mit einer unvergleichlichen sch�nen Stimme
FADO Lieder vom Feinsten. Dazu gesellten sich sp�ter noch
andere S�nger und Musikanten die den Abend zu einem un-
vergsslichen Erlebnis machten. Vielen vielen Dank !!!!!
Auch f�r die wunderebare CD von Marina!!

We had a lovely night at Sr. Fado! A small, intimate and charming place that makes you feel part of the neighborhood. The food, cooked by Marina, was delicious and plentiful. Duarte was extremely attentive and engaging. When dinner is over, just settle in for a wonderful night of fado. Friends from the neighborhood wander in and sing, and then of course there is the amazing Marina. Don't leave without picking up at least one CD!

We found Sr Fado by chance, and had a great evening. We called ahead and when asked Duarte promised arroz de mariscos, and served us very kindly. At the end of the evening when he had served his few guests (the place only has 4-5 tables), he and an elderly guitarist who had joined began to sing. When Marina finished the dishes, she took off her apron and joined and it was beautiful. A very special and intimate evening of fado.

And thank you so much for telling us about the wonderful Sr Fado restaurant and beaufitul people who run it, Duarte and Marina - we had an amazing evening with them and their friends... Now every time I listen to my fado CDs and one of the songs that Marina or one of the guys sang for us, I close my eyes and imagine that I am back there... it was a truly remarkable experience and I cannot thank you enough for sharing that secret with us!
