The more poetic visitors to Lisbon have described the city as "narcissistic" and "seductive." They refer to the hilltop views that force anyone to stop and take in the view of the city. Climb to the top of many of its major monuments and stand in awe at the view from their windows or terraces. Reach the top of the city's hills, and hold in your remaining breath, as it is further taken away by the view. You'll be standing above a sea of rooftops, towers, and domes, descending towards one of the world's great natural estuaries.
