Fado Museum
The story of Lisbon's music
The Fado Museum explains the evolution and the passion behind the country's
famous musical expression with audiovisual presentations, wax figures,
multilingual information panels, and musical archives.
It presents the
cultural and social impact of Fado, from its use in cinema through the
impact of censorship in the 20th century, and explains the development
of the Portuguese guitar.
There is also a café and restaurant
with live performances, and a shop with a good selection of
recordings.
For more about Fado and Portuguese music in general, see our Fado section.
