MARIONETTE MUSEUM
A lovely collection of puppets from around the world
The former 18th century Bernardas Convent houses a lovely collection of over
1,000 puppets, including some dating from the 17th and 18th centuries --
knights, princesses, devils, among other characters.
Most are from
Portugal, while others came from places as diverse as Italy, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, and
China. The museum explains the history of the art form and there are
frequent puppet shows, making this an ideal attraction for families.
