Hungarian artist Arpad Szenes and his Portuguese wife Vieira da Silva are
two of the best representatives of the Second School of Paris. They met and
married in Paris, and in the 1930's Vieira da Silva was at the vanguard of
European art known for her innovative techniques.
She concentrated on
expressionist urban themes, while Szenes painted luminous landscapes. Their
gallery (in a former 18th century silk factory) also houses temporary exhibitions featuring artists that were
influential on or influenced by the two artists.
