Lisbon (and all of Portugal) has a moderate and pleasant climate much like southern California in the U.S.
The mean annual temperature is around 63º F (17º C), making it the second-hottest capital in Europe (after Athens, Greece).
It also averages the most daily hours of sunlight in Europe per year, and temperatures often surpass 30ºC in the high-summer months of
July and August.
Autumn and winter (especially from late October to early April) can be rainy and windy, but sunny days are not unusual and the
temperatures will always stay above freezing (often stabilizing at around 10ºC).
Elsewhere in Portugal, it tends to be cool and rainy in the north; warmer and drier in south.
